Yes, I am one of the lucky ones to be from the San Francisco Bay Area. Born and raised here, I graduated from Lincoln High (S.F.) class of '66. Yeah, I'm older than most of the people on here, but I've seen some incredible shows. Like Jimi, Janis, Cream, the Doors, the Who, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, the Stones, the Kinks, Creedence, Hot Tuna, Steppenwolf, Yardbirds, Butterfield Blues band, Steve Miller band, CSN&Y, Buffalo Springfield, the Byrds, Love, Derek and the Dominos, Muddy Waters, Lightning Hopkins, Albert King, Otis Redding, John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, Buddy Guy, Blue Cheer, Allman Bros (original lineup), Traffic, Neil Young w/ Crazy Horse, Fleetwood Mac, Kaleidoscope, Taj Mahal, Spirit, Jethro Tull, the Band, Boz Scaggs, Dr. John, Bo Diddley, James Gang, Velvet Underground, Leon Russell, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Jeff Beck, the Eagles, the Doobie Brothers, and many, many others...
And of course most all the local bands including Country Joe & The Fish, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Santana, Tower of Power, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Loading Zone, Cold Blood, Sons of Champlin, Moby Grape, It's A Beautiful Day,
the Charlatans, the NRPS, Kingfish, most if not all of John Cippolina's bands, and of course the GOGD!My first Dead show was at Longshoreman's Hall for one of the Trips Festivals, but please don't ask for details, my memory of this show is very fuzzy. Actually quite a few of my earliest shows are kind of foggy. It's been over 42 years since I first had my mind blown by this band. I've seen every keyboardist that was a member of the band.
I've seen the Dead at these venues: The old Fillmore Aud. and the Fillmore West, the Avalon Ballroom and the Family Dog at the Beach, Green St., Carousel Ballroom, Winterland, the Polo Fields, the BCT, the Warfield, S.F. Civic, Cow Palace, Oakland Aud.(HJ Kaiser Aud), the Greek Theater, Frost Amp., Kezar Stadium, Oakland Col (indoors and outside), Shoreline, and in Sacramento, Monterey, L.A., Las Vegas, and a few others which I will list as I remember them.
And I've seen the Jerry Band at the Stone, the Orpheum, the Keystone, the Warfield, the Fillmore, the GAMH, Shoreline, Caesar's Tahoe, the Greek, the Frost, the Gift Center, Concord Pavilion, the Kaiser, and the Oakland Coliseum.
